Based in Rugby, Warwickshire Onley grounds equestrian complex has amazing facilities, hosts a variety of equestrian events for all ages and abilities, with experienced, helpful staff.
Onley has three good sized arenas; two indoor arenas 25m x 60m and one international 40m x 77m. The outdoor arena is 100m x 45m and the great thing is they are all available to hire from £30 an hour for up to 2 horses.
Also offering lessons one-to-one or group tuition from the age of 8 upwards, I can personally say Clare is a fabulous instructor teaching my daughter on Onley’s pony Tikka and then on her own pony that Clare offered so much help and advice on whilst we were looking to purchase a pony. Then taking a young rider and a very green pony to jumping a full course with confidence, her calm and fun way of teaching really changed my daughters confidence from walk and trotting, to finally cantering and jumping. If you are looking for riding lessons I really do recommend giving Onley a call.
Within the grounds at Onley you will find, Onley horse box services, Rugby polo club, The rug den (rug washing services), Harley equestrian and Willoughby park polo gear shop both great shops, also a great local farm shop & butchery. Onley vets offer a friendly service and who I use for our pony, certain days and areas they do a free call out zone if you have pre booked your appointment, I highly recommend.
Onley is well known for its Rugby polo club, it is one of the oldest polo clubs in the country, established in 1893. Rugby polo club was then re-established in 2000 by two brothers Philip and David Baker. I was fortunate enough to have had a group polo lesson a couple of years ago with friends on a very chilly evening, lots of fun was had by all, the rules were told in an easy way to understand and the horses were very well trained for us polo rookies. Afterwards we ate in the Forge restaurant the food was delicious!
The Chukka bar gives views of the outdoor arena especially in the winter for the events and polo tournaments. My son likes to relax by the log burner in the winter whilst waiting for his sister. The Nosebag Cafe offers yummy sausage cobs and cakes, my partner is usually sipping tea and eating something from the menu on his equestrian Daddy days.
Take a look at the next couple of weeks events, something is always going on at Onley. (2018)
